“ Boom Boom”, roared the thunder. It sounded as if a jet flew over my head going faster than the speed of sound. The rain trickled down slowly as a drizzle. Then, as it came down, it was going faster and faster until it wasn’t a drizzle anymore. It was raining hard.
“Noooooo”, I yelled. “It’s raining cats and dogs,” I said. Today was supposed to be the perfect day, but it is all ruined because it’s raining. We were supposed to go on the boat for a nice quick ride before lunch. Then we were supposed to go on the beach in the afternoon. Then lastly we were supposed to go on the boardwalk to ride some rides and eat some junk food.
“ We are going to have to turn back and go home.” My uncle said.
“Why” I asked, “Why can’t we keep going? Why do we have to go home. Today is ruined.” My grandfather then gave me a whole scientific explanation on why you can’t drive a boat in water when it is thundering and lightning. I started to cry. I was very upset, tired and annoyed. No one was even able to tell that I was crying because of all of the rain. I had a never ending waterfall trickling down my face. Earlier today my grandmother was going on and on about how today wassuch a beautiful day and how it didn’t even look like it would rain. She jinxed it again. Before I knew it, we were home. We pulled into my grandfather’s boat slip. My mom helped me get out of the boat and I felt like a baby.
Once I calmed down, I had fun that day playing cards and going to an arcade. Although this day started out really rough, it turned out to be a good day. I planned the whole day out and I didn’t realize that something could go wrong. I counted my eggs before they hatched. So this just goes to show you that you can even find sunshine even in rain.
